WORLD'S LARGEST VIDEO SUPERSCREEN GOES "LIVE" IN TIMES SQUARE

In celebration of the new millennium, the world's largest video screen was activated at 4 Times Square, flooding the "Crossroads of the World" with stunning, nine-story-tall, super-bright images.

As the giant SMARTVISION(R) by SACO video screen exploded with live, full-motion video and computer generated graphic displays, throngs of holiday visitors in Times Square literally stopped in their tracks to marvel at the computer driven presentation.

Fred Jalbout, President, Chairman and CEO of SACO SMARTVISION INC., said, "Given its sheer size, resolution and versatility, the SMARTVISION screen will revolutionize outdoor advertising. The screen is a truly overwhelming presence in Times Square. It makes all other outdoor signs obsolete."

Created by SACO SMARTVISION INC., www.smartvision.com, the worldwide leader in the design and production of large-format video screens using light emitting diode (LED) technology, the screen measures 120 feet by 90 feet and follows the curved form of the new Conde Nast Building at the southeast corner of Seventh Avenue and 43rd Street.

The new screen, which was officially inaugurated Dec. 28, surpasses SACO's previous size record of 50 feet by 100 feet for the Irish rock group, U2. The Times Square screen produces a palette of more than 16.7 million colors which enhances text, graphics and video, creating images that are crisp, clean and clear.

Manufactured for the Nasdaq Stock Market Inc., the SMARTVISION(R) screen soars above Nasdaq's glass-enclosed MarketSite. Frank G. Zarb, Chairman and CEO of the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD), said, "This is the most advanced and the largest display of its kind in the world. What it says to our Nasdaq-listed companies is that we are as committed to technology as they are."

Because they are built up from millions of discrete, individually energized red, green, and blue LEDs, SMARTVISION screens offer far better resolution and a greater viewing angle than any type of projected or coupled multi-monitor display. Mr. Jalbout added, "LEDs offer a superior display format, and we believe that SACO is the most innovative developer of this technology."

SMARTVISION screens bring excitement and "the fan experience" to a number of permanent venues, including Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex, CINergy Field in Cincinnati and the MCI Center in Washington, DC. The largest LED video displays in professional sports are the twin 24 feet by 100 feet SMARTVISION screens at the Baltimore Ravens' PSINet Stadium. Fans of the Cincinnati Reds, Washington Wizards, and Golden State Warriors all are enjoying a front row stadium seat, even from high in the bleachers. They have perfect views of replays, close-ups, and advertising by sponsors.

SMARTVISION's thin, lightweight panels can be configured in virtually any size or shape. Thanks to their technological advantages and high portability, SMARTVISION Transportable screens are used today throughout the live entertainment industry. Touring artists including Rod Stewart, Janet Jackson, The Spice Girls, Celine Dion, Cher, U2, and Elton John rely on SACO screens to immerse concert goers in compelling visual environments.

Based in White Plains, N.Y., SACO SMARTVISION CORP. is the U.S. operating subsidiary of Montreal-based SACO SMARTVISION INC. Established in 1987, SACO is the worldwide leader in the design and production of large-format, video screens using light emitting diode (LED) technology. Additionally, the company's industrial control workstations and display panels are used in transportation control centers and in nuclear and hydroelectric power stations throughout the world. A publicly owned company, SACO SMARTVISION is traded on the Montreal and Toronto stock exchanges under the symbol SSV.
