Courmayeur is an Italian town and commune in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley, in northern Italy. Nicknamed 'Regina of the Alps', for the magic scenery of the twelve peaks that they surround her, Courmayeur is a station of vacation of indescribable beauty and ancient fame.
But Courmayeur is not only skiing, she offers in fact a lot of other possibilities of relaxation: skating on the ice, tennis fields, covered swimming pools, boutiques, salt games, cinema, discos, night-clubs. Courmayeur is the last Italian commune before the French territory; it is around 200 kilometers from Milan. The Mont Blanc Tunnel links the region to France. And Geneva, Switzerland, is only 180km.
Courmayeur Festival Noir Cinema, XVIII edition from 4 to 10
As every year, the 18th edition of the festival – to be held in Courmayeur from December 4-10, 2008 – will present 12 competition films selected from among the best new works in the genre of the year underway. Promoted by the Ministry of Culture, the Valle d'Aosta Region and the City of Courmayeur, in 2007 the festival was listed by Variety among the 50 festival worldwide (and five in Italy) “not to be missed.”
